Breathe to Balance, Sun. July 6th, 2-3:15pm
In this 75-minute class, we’ll explore the transformative power of pranayama (breathwork rooted in yogic wisdom) to self-regulate and balance the nervous system. We’ll begin with 15 minutes of gentle movement (asana) to open the chest, side body, and upper-mid back. After reviewing proper techniques, benefits, and contraindications, we’ll move into our pranayama practice. We’ll conclude with a grounding meditation and time for reflection. Beginners to yoga and breathwork are always welcome.
A note on my approach - I teach breathwork through a trauma-informed lens, as part of a holistic and grounded yoga practice. The techniques I offer are what I call functional—they are gentle, supportive, and safe to explore on your own. Unlike breathwork styles that aim to induce altered states of consciousness and may be intense or destabilizing for some, my approach is oriented toward nervous system regulation and connection with the body. If you are pregnant or have a diagnosed lung condition, please reach out before registering so we can discuss whether this offering is appropriate for you.
Location: Inner Light Community Center, 5150 Stilesboro Rd NW, Suite 320, Kennesaw, GA 30152
Please bring your own mat and a journal and pen. Props like blankets and blocks are available for your use.
