Yoga Book Club: Beyond Anxiety Sunday, August 30th, 1-4pm

Yoga Book Club brings together some of my favorite things: meaningful conversation, mindful movement, community, snacks, and, of course, a really good book!

For this gathering, we'll discuss Beyond Anxiety: Curiosity, Creativity, and Finding Your Life's Purpose by Martha Beck. In this thoughtful and accessible book, Beck explores anxiety through the lenses of neuroscience, psychology, creativity, and contemplative practice. Rather than treating anxiety as something to fight or eliminate, she invites us to approach it with curiosity, compassion, and greater self-understanding.

This book offered me a broader perspective on how cultivating creativity might be the antidote to anxiety. The themes in the book weave beautifully with yoga's teachings on awareness, presence, and cultivating a more skillful relationship with our inner experience.

Join us for an afternoon of slow flow yoga, community circle, facilitated discussion, refreshments, and a closing guided meditation.

When: Sunday, August 30th, 1-4pm

Location: Inner Light Community Center, 5150 Stilesboro Rd NW, Suite 320, Kennesaw, GA 30152

Moon Flow: A New Moon Yoga Practice, Thursday, Sept. 10, 6:30-7:45pm

Join me for a 75-minute practice inspired by the quiet, receptive energy of the moon. Taking place the evening of the new moon, this class invites us to slow down, turn inward, and move in rhythm with the body and breath.

We’ll begin with Moon Salutations (Chandra Namaskar), a flowing and repetitive sequence traditionally associated with lunar energy. While the practice can gently build heat in the body, the steady repetition often creates a meditative rhythm, like waves moving back and forth with the tide. This rhythmic movement can help settle the nervous system, soften mental chatter, and invite the attention inward. Moon salutations are often practiced to cultivate receptivity, balance, ease, and reflection.

From there, we’ll transition into cooling pranayama (breathwork) practices designed to soothe and regulate the nervous system while deepening qualities often associated with lunar energy: nourishment, spaciousness, intuition, and renewal. We’ll close with a brief guided meditation and time to rest.

This practice is open to all levels, including beginners.

When: Thursday, September 10th, 6:30-7:30pm

Location: Inner Light Community Center, 5150 Stilesboro Rd NW, Suite 320, Kennesaw, GA 30152

Investment: $25. Please bring your own mat. Props will be provided.

Rest in Awareness: Restorative Yoga + Yoga Nidra, Sunday, Sept. 20, 7-8:30pm

Join me for an evening of deep rest as we blend the gentle practices of restorative yoga and yoga nidra. This 90-minute class includes 60 minutes of restorative yoga, where props are used to support and hold the body, promoting profound physical and mental release. We’ll conclude with a 30-minute guided yoga nidra, an ancient meditative practice translated as “dynamic sleep.” This practice cultivates a state of non-doing, allowing us to release deep-seated tension and emerge feeling lighter and deeply nourished.

When: Sunday, September 20, 7-8:30pm

Location: Inner Light Community Center, 5150 Stilesboro Rd NW, Suite 320, Kennesaw, GA 30152

Investment: $30. Please bring your own mat and your favorite blanket. Props will be provided.
